Green
Globe Certified 2006
April
25, 2006, Eagle Beach – Manchebo Beach
Resort & Spa celebrates this week the re-certification
for the Green Globe 21 Standards. Mr. Peter Hackett of AJA Registrars
conducted the certification audit and was pleased to see continuous
improvements and great enthusiasm with the Manchebo Team. The
continuous efforts of staff and management to fulfill the company’s
vision and promise to preserve a safe and healthy environment
for the Island of Aruba, it’s people and visiting guests,
is surely showing great results.
The garden
& beach department under the supervision of Denisi Bastos
made great progress with the introduction of the plant nursery,
palm leave shredder, composting and improved beach recycling
programs. This operation reinforced the company’s 3-R-Policy
to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle throughout the property.
Since the
commencement of the Green Globe journey in 2003 the resort was
able to reduce electricity consumption per guest night from
32.6 KWH in 2003 to 25.8 KWH per guest night in 2005 resulting
in an effective reduction of energy consumption of over 20%.
As for the water consumption the resort’s Environmental
& Guest friendly water saving plans resulted in a 22% reduction
in water consumption per guest night over a two year period.
We encourage all resorts, companies in general and Aruban families
to embrace the concept of these environmental programs as it
will surely assist them in the ever-increasing electricity and
water bills.
